Celebrating 5 Years with Julie McAuley

At Intact Insurance Channel Islands, we’re proud to celebrate the people who make our business what it is. This month, we’re delighted to recognise Julie McAuley as she celebrates five years with us.

Julie joined us in February 2021 as a Senior Claims Handler, beginning her journey remotely during lockdown, certainly an unusual way to start a new role. Drawn to claims because she wanted a career where she could truly help people, Julie has since progressed to Service Lead for our Claims Team, a milestone she is incredibly proud of.

Over the past five years, Julie has become a valued leader within the team, supporting both colleagues and customers with care, professionalism and dedication. We caught up with her to reflect on her journey so far.

How does it feel to reach this milestone?

I can’t believe it has been five years already; it’s come round very quickly!

You joined us in February 2021 as a Senior Claims Handler, having previously worked for a local broker and in Health & Social Care. What attracted you to a career in insurance - and to claims in particular?

Insurance appealed to me as an alternative to working in the finance sector, and I liked the idea of working in claims because I wanted a role where I could help people.

What’s one fun fact people might not know about your very first week here?

I started during the second COVID lockdown, so I was working from home. I actually felt more nervous about meeting everyone remotely than I would have been if I’d been in the office meeting them in person!

What accomplishment from the past five years are you most proud of?

Becoming Service Lead for the Claims Team in 2024.

Is there a skill or area you’d like to develop further in the coming years?

Nothing specific, just continuing to develop my knowledge and experience as a claims handler.

What do you enjoy most about working here?

I like my team and the culture of Intact in general.

How would you describe the team or company culture in one sentence?

Hardworking, friendly and supportive.

What makes Intact Channel Islands unique?

Because we are local, we have a really good understanding of our customers’ needs and can adapt what we do to support our community, especially during challenging times for the Channel Islands, such as the damage caused in January by Storm Goretti.

Julie’s journey reflects what matters most to us at Intact, supporting our customers when they need us most, within a culture that is collaborative, caring and proudly local.

Congratulations Julie from all the team on your 5 years’ service and thank you for your hard work and commitment. Here’ to many more years to come!
